Degree
When discussing a bend, degree refers to the degree of the curve. A standard tolerance of ±2° may apply.
Arc Length
The length of the curved portion of a bend, measured along the centerline of the pipe rather than as a straight line.
Radius
The distance from the center of the pipe bend to the center of the circle the bend would form if extended to 360°.
Tangent
The straight portion of a bend remaining on either side of the curved arc.
Chord Length
The straight-line measurement from one centerline endpoint of a bend to the other.
Nominal Size
The common approximate size used to identify pipe, which may differ from the pipe's actual dimensions.
